The female awoken from her deep slumber, weak, aching and alone. The white pigmented wolf lifted her cranium and blinking open her twin pools, peering around for any life that survived around her. Parting her maw to breathe through the piled snow, she flicked her head, shaking it, lobes cuffed back and her body trembling with a shiver in the frigid snow. Detaching herself from the sounds around her, the wind howling through the wall of trees the storm was over and with a reluctant whine she laid there still, hunger was gnawing at her side briefly. She hasn't eaten for a week now and was feeling rather odd.

The log kept her in hiding but she was eager to move from under, the heavy bitter cold kept inside and she thought about if the wolves that resided here have made it, perhaps congregated together. Whimpering while trying to push herself onto her paws and crawling out, trembling over her own fore paws that sunk within the deep blanket, ice was thinly formed due to the weather challenges. She continued to crawl out, pulling herself pressing her paws within the snow and focusing on getting out, the real challenge was moving on her paws.

The older brute’s brows rose at the growl, but he was not at all surprised. Chuckling softly, he nuzzled her cheek one last time before suggesting, “Let’s bring them back something to eat, first.”

Amuro lifted his snout to sniff the air, but detected no scents. Frowning, he trotted a few more steps away and sampled the air again, only to be faced with the same results. He couldn’t return without something edible, whether it be a fat ground squirrel, or a half-starved snow-shoe hare. Amuro would always put pups first, but he had to acknowledge everyone was hungry. Blinking with realization, he turned back to his mate, and carefully chose his words, “...We could probably find others to help,” he couldn’t quite look her in the eye. He’d just dropped the subject for her sake, and now he was picking it back up again, “Perhaps we could gather enough to hunt some larger game, to feed all of us.”

Nahani could see a little ways ahead of her view, the frozen snow above her cranium hung from the trees limbs, she snorted and peered around again. Wrinkling her nose, she whiffed at the air, spotting her own breath flowing upward, flicking her receptors the lass attempted to stand again this time more sluggishly. The snow was packed down heavily around her, gesturing her movements forward, trying to push through the layer, loping through it wasn't as simple either. She didn't want to suffer any longer in her position and decided to keep moving until she would find a more suitable area in the forest, though judging by her appearance, she looked weak, her tail dangling lowly, and her cranium lowered slightly below her haunches as she kept moving forward, dreadfully.

Post  Blue Thu Dec 20, 2012 10:11 pm

Blue cracked a resistant eye open. It was oddly quiet. Had the snow stopped? Slowly, she rose from her place on the hard cave floor, noting how her joints cracked in protest. To further annoy them, she slid her front paws across the stone floor, keeping her hind paws firmly upright, to encourage a ripple effect of back-cracking. "This doesn't sound healthy," she mumbled to herself, "But it sure feels like it."

The blue-eyed she-wolf glanced towards the other two occupants of the cave, almost pouting when she realized they were still asleep. Now, Blue was no medic, but she was sure they were still alive. At least, that's what she thought breathing was a sign of. Life. From the rising flanks, she was fairly certain that's what was going on. She nudged the fluffier, and whitest one of the two, but this seemed to fail to arouse her. With a sigh, she abandoned her attempts in favor of her bodily needs (Lovies, don't take that in a dirty way xD).

With one last fleeting look towards her pack-mates, Blue navigated her way outside of the cave. Her suspicions were confirmed. The storm had stopped, and had left behind a rather enchanting white wonderland. Though it had nearly been the death of her, Blue still adored snow. Seeing this much of one of her most treasured objects, she quickly, though temporarily, forgot of all her previous heart-aches concerning the storm. With a cheerful bound, the she-wolf took her few first steps back into the outside world, loving the fresh powder kicking up to stick to her fur.

She, however, did not get very far. A sharp pang of pain in her stomach stopped her short in another leap, only to leave her landing face-first in the snow. This time, she did pout. She'd been so wrapped up in the perks of winter, she'd forgotten she hadn't eaten in who-knows-how-long.

As she was pushing through the piled snow she stopped and whiffed the air again, her whiskers twitching and her maw ajar, to see if she'll pick up any scents to inform her of life. Nothing faint lingered so she continued walking which sort of helped her body warmth a bit, moving around and elevating her tense aching muscles. She scanned the perimeter for a moment as she lurked into a clearing and stood, studying her surroundings, was she deep within the forest? She didn't know how far in she merged, but reluctantly she wasn't lost.

She perked her lobes forward eyeing movement ahead of her view, it was a small creature which scurried across the frozen crest of the earth. The hopping prey took off in one direction and Nahani followed it slowly, perhaps this meal would be decent for her, no matter how weak she seemed, she was starving and in hopes that she'll catch this hare. She paused a few meters where the hare took off and lowered her muzzle to the ground and sniffed, hearing it dash through the bristled bushes, catching a glance she awaited for the hare to lower its head towards the snow. She started to move forward silently, taking slow steady steps until she was in reach, from there she sprung forward and so did the hare. Together she battled the hare in the deep snow, yet she was about to lose range and jumped over to her right where the hare snuck by and gave a metallic snap at its heels; missing.

The snow began to fall from the branches of trees and she glared in the direction of where the hare fled, she hopped to her right a bit and decided to walk in the other direction. Her paced slowed after a few brief moments, hunger still gnawing at her side, as she was still listening and evaluating the forest for any unusual sounds. To settle her nerves a bit, the lass took her shelter at the base of a tree that had many branches with long prickly thorns, like a spruce, pacing in a small circle and laying down slowly, she began to lick her paws and her white pigment thoroughly.

Post  Kanae Tue Dec 25, 2012 12:39 pm

Kanae's pretty dark brown eyes opened and absorbed the sunlight painfully. How long had she been asleep? The white pelted female sat up and yawned quietly. She didn't remember much besides finding Blue in the cave and hearing Gale's death howl. A cold sensation hit her belly. Gale. He was dead now. Her beta male was gone, taken by the storm that raged for who knows how long. She wondered if anyone else knew about his demise.

Carefully, the Alphess stood and shook out her coat. She was careful not to wake up Drake. She was sure he needed more sleep than what he let on. A warm feeling over came her as she looked down at him. He was hers. It was amazing, truly. Honestly, the female had never expected for him to choose her. It had seemed impossible and yet.. it had happened.

Giving her glance to her sleeping mate a few more moments, Kanae pried her eyes away and padded out into the bright world. It was a beautiful sight. Everything was covered in silver and it all sparkled. A small, warm smile grew on Kanae's face as she looked about. That smile faltered when she saw a partially covered grey mass out on the lake nearby. She knew that the mass was Gale. He had been so close.. Hopefully no one else would see him.

[Too lazy to switch accounts. xD]

Sheila and Ash just didn't know how to be quiet. Then again, they never did. Especially when Brook was trying to sleep. And her mother. Geez.. She always had to fuss about them. Of course they were alive! They had each other to keep warm. It's not like they simply stayed away from one another. No, they weren't like that.

"Can you guys be quiet?! I'm trying to get some more sleep!" Brook lifted her head and snapped at her siblings. She had lost sleep when she heard Gale's mournful howl. She knew that something had happened but she couldn't do a thing...

Ooh, bright snow. It was so shiny in the light and it instantly took Brook's attention. The young pup got up and walked quickly to the front of the den. It was so pretty!

Post  Nocturne Tue Dec 25, 2012 11:43 pm

Nocturne was as silent as the world around him. The clouds had dumped their weighty load of snow upon the world; causing each and every sound to become muffled. Of course, it did not dampen the visuals that existed. For example, Nocturne stood out like a puckered sore. His jet-coloured coat was an enormous contrast in comparison to the surrounding white covered landscape. It made him slightly uncomfortable to be out in the open like this, but he really did not have that much of a choose. He needed to get to a new destination, and quickly before he was discovered. Then again, his blood trail didn't help his cause either. On a large section of his foreleg, a huge laceration was born. An adversary that he managed to escape for the time being had given him the mark, as a way to track him later. Luckily, the snow storm had blown in from the north and covered Nocturne's trail. If he was extremely lucky--and Nocturne had the tendency to be--he would be able to rid himself of the pest from the past that wanted him dead.

Quiet paw steps halted when he caught the sound of a muffled, yet still audible thud. It was far too light to be a tree but too heavy to be some small prey animal. The familiar scent of another canine hit Nocturne's glands that resided in his nose when he lifted his muzzle into the air. From first appearances, it seemed that he had unknowingly stumbled into a pack territory. Reason he could draw such a conclusion was because there were many scents intermingled within each other, a trait that he had known well during his days as an alpha. It had been quite some time since he had come across a pack. In fact, he hadn't seen one since he faked his death at the Cascading Waters. So, needless to say, his interest was piqued as he picked up another steady gait towards were the sound had originated.

Time passed quickly, much like the scenery; it was not long before he found what he believed to be the source. It was a small, young female with a dark grey-and-white coloured coat. She seemed to be pouting. As to why, Nocturne could not dictate the cause for such a behavior. The massive wolf stood there for a little while longer, letting what was left of the sunlight cast its glow on the area around him before he broke away from the shadows of the trees. His amber eyes held a kind light as he carefully picked his way to where the female lay. Snow crumbled beneath his paws and showered downward the small hill he was walking on. It didn't take him very long to descend the hill and get to a somewhat near proximity to the female. Blood from his wound started to coat the snow in scarlet, but he failed to notice it.

"Are you troubled? Or perhaps stuck?" His voice was deep and carried only interest. He possessed no hostility towards the pack wolf, simply because he knew he had no right to any of that. He was, after all, a simple loner. A loner who was trespassing. "I would be glad to give you any assistance, if you do require it." It was then that he remembered his manners, "I do hope you can forgive me. I am Nocturne, and I did not mean to come into your lands. I was escaping the storm."

Post  Blue Wed Dec 26, 2012 1:13 am

Blue's head remained firmly planted within the snow, her ears flattened, her bottom lip drawn out. It seemed that her poise only came in extremes: flatteringly graceful or embarrassingly clumsy. Although she had at least a week's worth of movement lost, she refused to blame it on this. When it came to things about herself, Blue tended to be a bit hard-headed. She'd have to recapture her grace, she told herself, after she fetched some food for herself, and possibly others.

The soft crumbling of snow brought her ears to swivel forwards, as well as her eyes to look up in surprise. Whatever she expected to see before was definitely far off from what her crystal-blues revealed to her. A large black figure in the distance. As Blue realized it seemed to be moving in her direction, her ears impulsively returned to pressing against her comforting cranium. What was that? Why was it coming towards her? As the figure drew nearer she found the black to take the form of a wolf. Now her heart sank. She'd never seen a wolf that dark before. Even Katria, whom was mostly black, had some white patches on her pelt.

Perhaps it was a result of being without food for this long, but Blue quite literally only came to one conclusion: Death was coming for her. She didn't know quite how to react. Luckily, her brain always seemed to have a mind of its own. Thus, her only thought was: 'So I have visions about other's deaths... yet I don't even get one of my own?!'

Death was still growing nearer. She took her remaining time to release a breath she hadn't realized she had been holding, and relaxed just the slightest bit. Blue may not have been fond of the idea of dying so early, but she'd except it all the same if it was meant to be. Taking in another breath, however, brought a scent. She inhaled again. Death had a scent? And, further more as the scent revealed, Death was a... male? Who knew he had a gender... Wait a minute, what was that? Her eyes caught sight of blood, which was apparently dripping from him. Now something has to be up. Death does not bleed.

Blue blinked slowly, her pout returning. As he stopped in front of her, she took note that her previous observation was wrong. Not only was he not Death, but he was not huge, either. This guy was a moose! Blue tried to refrain from looking too bewildered when he spoke.

Nocturne huh? Well, he wasn't a fate worse than death, so there's a good start. Blue addressed him with a nod, with a rather blank face. He didn't seem to have harmful intentions towards her, or the pack. But she still wasn't sure about accepting help from a stranger. Maybe he was a spy, from another pack, to check up on how weak they were after the storm? Blue attempted to read his eyes, but being aware of the emotions of others was never something she was skilled at. Though, her curiosity got the better of her on another matter. Her attention switched to where the blood was seeping from, and she spoke softly, not purposefully ignoring his previous questions, "You're hurt." Her face was etched with concern.

She wouldn't bet on herself on being an excellent judge of character, but she had a good feeling about this one, and she wouldn't take help without giving some as well.

--------------------------------------------------

Consumed within her own thoughts Eve couldnt help but notice the darkening clouds, the moist smell of the forest, the screeching sounds of what life forms floated both above and around her levels. The constant flappng of wings, Small critters scattering around looking for a place to hide from the large rustic fae. It was that time again, all Eve could think about was food, Yes she was starved so anything would do, even if it ment heading to the river bed and fishing out a tastless trout. Her hazel pools were on the search looking for what ever was to come across withinin her field of vision.

The grey clouds seemed to grow darker and bigger, there was a certain though that a storm was brewing, and from what Eve could hear' the rambeling of clouds was almost like a thudding war tune, thunderous roars echoed the sky's and the failing rain was getting heavier. It would most certainly leave its path of devastation to the forest. Traveling alone for a a few months seemed like years, Eve would often forget what time of day it was, hence why they mostly went so fast for her.

Turning her fluffy wet cranium the sound prey caught her auds, Normally Eve would have to go to the food, But this time, The food had come to her. Perfect, That should fill my starving stomach. Her first encounter of food after running on an empty stomach for a few days. Though the storm continued to boom and scatter its way through the darkened sky's Eve was far to distracted and consumed within the thought of food, even if it was just a bite. She couldnt stand the quenching pain in her stomach anymore and so she continued on accelorating and increasing her gate every so often untill she found this Prey'.

(I forgot to switch accounts... v.v)

Sheila's small ears flicked at the sound of another voice. It was the snappy, sharp voice of her dominant sister, Brook. "We were just... um, looking outside." Murmured the she-cub, when suddenly, her sister jumped to her paws, scrambling over to the entrance of the den, her eyes trained on the snow falling outside. "Oh, and, isn't it great? The blizzard stopped! I don't know where Katria went, but she probably just went out to look at the snow." Voiced the pup, her vocals still scratchy.

Speaking of the snow, she couldn't help but shuffle closer to the entrance herself. Of course, all she could see out there was white; her eyes had spent days adjusting to the darkness of the small den, however the snow mixed with the light of the sun made it hard for her eyes to take in. She wanted to go out there, but then again, who knows what kind of dangers lay out there? Stranger wolves could've wandered into the territory, thinking that the owners of the land must have been buried under the thick blanket of snow, and if she went out there, they could find the den, and find her siblings, and... and... Well, she didn't want to think of it negatively.

The lass still dawdled across the winter like wonderland, in search for something decent to consume to satisfy her urging hunger. Her pads were sore from walking through the frigid cold cold, deep soft touches to her torso, as it brushed off lightly while she shook her white pigment. Craning her cranium to the right then to the left, inhaling deeply then exhaling out surveying the scents lingering around her. Nahani smelled an unfamiliar scent, more like a wolf's scent that tingled her senses, she wasn't sure of this wolf's location but evaluating by scent, it could be faded or near.

Continuing her pace through the blanket of snow, the wolf lowered her cranium and sniffed along the ground, awaiting for any type of prey to come out from hiding, since looking for a carrion wouldn't be as easy, especially if one has fallen during the blizzard. Shuffling the snow around with her broad snout and letting out a low grunt, her banner swayed side to side, she was closer now. Lifting her receptors forward with a slight perk, while lifting her head again, swiping her tongue across her chaps before wandering off.

Post  Ceara Thu Dec 27, 2012 8:54 pm

C e a r a

 ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄
Ceara placed a single paw out into the snow, which was shortly followed by its four counterparts. A petite, white-coated female emerged from a hole in the ground, something the female would come to refer to as a 'den,' but in reality, it was just a hastily-made burrow. The female had made the den in the midst of the blizzard, seeking shelter and warmth. Shelter was granted to her, as was a scanty amount of warmth. Enough to get her by, at least. However, her stomach and the rest of her body nearly writhed with hunger and dehydration after a prolonged period of time without food.

Ceara winced in displeasure as sunlight flooded into her eyes. She didn't hesitate to shut her eyes for several moments before she slowly reopened them, letting her eyes adjust to the achromatic snows and the light emanating off the setting sun. Once she could see, she examined the world with awe. Now that a wave of havoc had left and she could go where she pleased, it was like a wonderland Snow! thought the female simply, her paws shuffling slightly with enthusiasm. As far as she could see, the bare trees and the earth beneath her paws were covered in a thick blanket of snow. The sun was nestled in the horizon and was slowly heading elsewhere, which, in effect, bathed the skies in an array of colors - Fuchsias, reds, and oranges colored the heavens and illuminated the land below in similar colors. Despite her hunger, the female's tail waggled from side to side and it did not take her long to excitedly pounce out into the snow and begin to bound atop the snowdrifts, her paws penetrating the surface of the snow from time to time. When that occurred, the front half of her body sank into the snow. When that happened, all she did was laugh softly and, after picking herself back up, she would continue running. The entire time, a delighted grin parting her muzzle.

When her body eventually grew exhausted, Ceara sat on her haunches atop the snow and panted, fog swirling from her mouth while she thought of her next move. If memory served her correctly, she'd seen a river during her travels, not too far from where she was situated at the time. That would solve her desire for water, and as for food, she could probably find some carrion somewhere to fill her stomach and increase her now depleted energy for enough time to catch a real meal. The she-wolf rose up from the snow and began to lope in the supposed direction of the river. Hopefully her memory served her well, as it had been a long time since she'd been out of her makeshift home.

The loner weaved her way through the trees, pupils searching for the view of the river. Hopefully the water was still running freely - Although she doubted it would after such a strong blizzard. After some time of walking, her eyes lit up at the sight of water, although as she suspected, the water was filmed over with a thin layer of transparent ice. Ceara neared the sloping riverbank and sat where land and ice met. She reached her paw over the ice and brought her paw down with force until there was a collision. A gentle crack made its way into the air, and with it, a small hole formed in the ice and Ceara lowered her head, lapping up the water greedily. Frigid water slid down her throat, and once she'd her fill and her thirst was well-quenched, she smiled smugly, satisfied.

A gentle breeze hit her face and the she-wolf took a moment to revel in the brisk chill that beguiled the atmosphere, Ceara slowly inhaling with an elated smile. Her smile, however, dissolved slightly at a familiar scent Wolves! thought the canine There is a pack present here. her ears pricked up and her head turned to the direction of the pack as her mind and body grew more alert. Under some nearby snow, there were territory markers, aged, but still vaguely detectable. Ceara didn't quite know what to do - It had been quite some time since she last had a pack. She stayed in some for very brief times although she never found a permanent home. She was hesitant to approach, since in most cases, there were power in numbers, and quite frankly, Ceara was quite the small individual, and she did pack a mean bite, like any wolf, but her size was a huge disadvantage in most scenarios including battle. Still, despite all that, Ceara was lonesome. She did not like
the solitude, and her desire to socialize fueled her approach towards the nearest group of wolves.

Ceara began her movement with a tardy walk, which gradually sped up into a trot. Scent-wise, she could identify the nearest congregation of wolves to be a pair, one male, and one female. She felt excitement bubbling up inside of her, but worry also ebbed at such happiness. Perhaps these wolves wouldn't be tolerant of intruders, but on the other hand, Ceara could do the pitiful thing and flee. Not particularly something she would like to do, since she was prideful and confident in her own abilities, but she would if necessary. Normally, her size was enough for her not to appear intimidating, which was seldom a good thing in battle, but in this case, perhaps they wouldn't feel inclined to defend their territory at the sight of such a small being.

Ceara slowed her pace as the wolves came into sight, two small silhouettes from her point of view, and it was easy to say that Ceara was baffled at the size of one of the wolves. He had to be at least seven inches taller than herself, if that. Quite intimidating, to be quite frank. In a battle against a sixty pound wolf against a one-hundred 'and something' wolf, the latter would come out victorious. In any case, Ceara tried to not let this factor deter her. In less than a minute, Ceara was in speaking-range of the wolves. She kept her tail at its average position and made herself look as non-threatening as possible "Hello," the female said, nodding in greeting to the two "I do apologize for trespassing, but know I do not harbor any negative intentions. I would like to look around your pack, as I do not have one of my own." Ceara added, examining the two wolves. Unfortunately, the two of them appeared to have some of their own issues. One was injured, and the other was pouting. She didn't quite know what to do or say so she simply inquired as to what was wrong "What's wrong?" implored the female to the both of them "And how did you receive that injury?"

"Hello," the female said, nodding in greeting to the two "I do apologize for trespassing, but know I do not harbor any negative intentions. One was injured, and the other was pouting. She didn't quite know what to do or say so she simply inquired as to what was wrong "What's wrong?" implored the female to the both of them "And how did you receive that injury?"

Blue blinked in surprise as a second stranger approached her, forming a group of three. Where were they all coming from? Though, she was thankful this one wasn't quite the monster 'Death' was. Swiftly, she pulled herself up to sit on her haunches, already having sacrificed enough dignity for today. Her curious eyes peered back and forth between the enormous mostly black brute to her left and the more-to-her-size mostly white she-wolf to her right. It was almost like Yin and Yang.

While she was thrilled to have new members, as they undoubtedly had lost some in the storm, her previous fears had not vanished. While Blue was a bit hard-headed at times, she was not dumb. As stated before, the pack was hurting from member loss. This left them wide open for neighboring pack's attacks, and there was no way her own could fend them off in their current condition. But, then again, other packs were recovering from the blizzard too. And most loners would have died out there, alone. So... were they being blessed with possible new recruits?

After a brief moment, Blue made her decision. To hell with turning down help in fear of spies. She nodded towards the newest arrival, and again to Nocturne. "My name is Blue, I'm the beta of this pack," she couldn't help but grimace at her own words. She still hadn't time to mourn for her beta partner. But this was no time to show weakness. "We'll happily accept either of you as members," and not wanting to sound desperate, she added, "If you're of use to us."

Nahani embarked a bit further into the wall of trees, a scent lingered again in the horizontal wind that brewed by. She lifted her orbs in the direction and followed warily, her paws sunk into the snow, feeling a liquid sweeping through her paws. She paused and eyed down and dug, flexing her fore paws for a moment, the crystal like fluid was frigid and she twitched her paws, wincing from the lack of water. She was dehydrated and dug her muzzle into the snow layer, shuffling it around until she would find the source of the creeks edge, frozen caps of ice was formed atop the surface, though she trailed further down the bank, testing the surface with her fore paws. She wasn't frustrated, but eager to quench her thirst at least for now, she dipped her muzzle again, snorting and rolling her tongue from her parted maw then biting, gnawing at the surface with her ivories bared slightly passed her lips. Reluctantly the water wasn't as frozen patched along the edge of the bank, she could feel the ice crack between her ajar mouth, braking the piece that was loosened and eating the ice, swallowing the bite size piece.

Grunting lowly, she continued to test the ice layer again, she shook her head with a quick flick, flinging the snow free from her broad snout, then presses against the surface with her paws. Sits up and turns backing up to a better position and rears up slightly and forces herself down to the ice again, her fore paws pressuring the stability, nothing happens. She stared, watching the ice with her dull orbs and whines shaking her white sleek pigment. Not giving up she proceeded to bite and claw with her dull digits at the ice caps, her energy of food was lacking distinctively, with that she jolted back feeling the cold bitter liquid, then swarms to the bank, crouching down and lapping quickly at the water, flicking her head from the water rushing down her dried oesophagus.

Quenching her thirst, the sight for hunger was at ease for now, she was well nursed with the water that would help her gain herself to go forward for a bit longer. She inhaled deeply then out slowly, she did this for a couple of times before deciding to continue through the winter scenery. Swiping her tongue across her chaps, she came to notice a variety of scents lurking near by, she whiffed, snorting, her banner swayed behind her as she evaluated again. This time she slowly approached the canids at ease, having no threatening gestures shown, she eyes them afar, and began to press closer."Hello..?" Nahani spoke politely with a weak tone.

Post  Katria Fri Dec 28, 2012 5:37 pm

“Let’s bring them back something to eat, first.”

Katria felt as if a stone dropped in her belly at the mention of the pack. The young Delta's heart was filled with the fierce determination to protect it, and the thought of losing it all made her feel like she had failed. 'No,' thought the she-wolf. 'this is no time for weakness. That wasn't a lie; if there were other wolves out there - particularly ones from the pack - she had to stay strong, and with the help of the Betas - well, beta, and the alphas, they could pull through it together.

"You're right," murmured Katria. "We need to find as many wolves as we can, although we'd cover more ground if we split up." Part of her believed her confident words, although the other half knew she just needed to clear her head. Without waiting for a response, she gave Amuro's ear a quick lick, then set off in her own direction.

The ebon-pigmented she trudged across the land of white. Her paws sank into the snow with every step, while frost from the white blanket carpeted her legs. She drew in a lungful of crisp air, only to release it back into the world, in the form of a small cloud. Her nose twitched, trying to identify the scents that belonged to prey or her pack, but she knew it was useless; the scents had been buried along with the once-grassy earth.

Her belly twisted with hunger, but Katria trekked on. She couldn't shake the nagging feeling that wolves were close by, but the more her golden pools searched, the less confidence she had. The vixen knew that even though she hadn't spotted life yet, they would spot her first. She stood out like the puff of cloud in a sky of blue. Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks. Her optics spotted a grouping of wolves. One of which stood out just like her, with a coat as dark as a starless night. She dared to creep forward, to soon make out the three other shapes as wolves. They were all lighter colored, and her eyelids widened as she recognized the shape of her friend, Blue.

"Hello..?" Nahani spoke politely with a weak tone.

Blue allowed herself a chuckle, this time. It was obviously the right choice to trash turning them out of the territory, as it seems life had sent another in praise. Three new lone wolves looking to join in one day. That was basically unheard of. According to her experiences, one a year was the expectation, and even then they might end up being slaughtered.

She had never been a religious one, even with supernatural powers as her own, but she couldn't help but think that maybe, just maybe, it was Gale from beyond the grave apologizing for leaving them so early. This, a silly little thought that she would've ordinarily snorted at, brought a small, wistful smile to Blue's face. She wouldn't be quite so lonely with so many newbies to take care of; she wouldn't have time to be.

"Another one, huh?" she grinned, this time voicing out loud what she'd been thinking since the first, "Where do you all keep coming from?" Her grin relaxed into a smile, "As I just finished telling these two, my name is Blue, and I am the beta of this pack." (It was usually of no importance to add 'Lead Soothsayer' as well.) To her ears, it sounded as if she'd memorized things to say to newcomers and she'd been repeating the same lines over and over again. "Looking to join, are you?"

She flicked her receptors, feeling the bitter cold touch her fur again, this time a gentle brew. She sighed in relief and came a bit closer to the congregating wolves, peering at each of them before responding towards the one known as Blue. "In hopes" the lass spoke having her cranium below her haunches, fatigue was already over powering her, not only that but starvation occurred, she rolled out her tongue, swiping across her chaps once more. Her greenish amber pools eyed the dappled female and smiled, "My name's Náhani and I do wish to stray along with your pack" she finished leaving her purpose of joining along with her soft vocals.

She blinked a few times, surveying the perimeter, the thickened clouds have drifted above them slowly, still revealing some parts of the darkened orb above the canopy of that was now snow piled among the tree tops. She focused on the trees balance, in wonder of why the heavily packed snow packed down having the tops of the trees collapse yet, perhaps old trees. She tilted her cranium slightly then lowered her gaze again, having her focus back towards the dappled female and the other two wolves that she stood aside.

We'll happily accept either of you as members.. If you're of use to us a smile played along the muzzle of Ceara, her anxiety abrogating. So, Ceara was accepted "Oh! Thank you, Blue," she dipped her head in respect to the beta, barely repressing her excitement. This wasn't exactly what she expected, nor came for - But on the other hand, what did she come for in the first place? The need to socialize most likely lured her into the scene, but she wasn't sure if she originally planned to join the pack. Her words were possibly said hastily without much thought, but still, despite all that, all of it was quite mind-boggling. In just one short conversation, she'd become a potential member of a pack, and in moments she became a pack member. Truly the exordium of a new life as her days of a loner came to a conclusion. Were the other members as kind and as accepting as Blue was? Ceara certainly hoped so.

Hello..? the voice and scent of another female jolted Ceara out of her day-dreaming as she became aware of her surroundings. Her pupils immediately made there way over to the female to analyse her. In terms of fur, she and Ceara were alike. The two wolves exhibited white coats, which were both gently flawed by a darker color. In terms of personality, the wolf seemed much calmer than herself. Ceara was usually an animated bundle of excitement or nerves, sometimes even both, just as she was prior to her acceptance. The other wolf also appeared rather friendly, not having shown much hostility to Ceara or any of the others.

A scent penetrated her nostrils, and the scent was from yet another wolf. Is that another loner? thought Ceara with a pang of curiosity within her mind, but upon further examination, the scent seemed to be coming from a pack wolf, a scent that was heavy upon Blue, a scent they must have shared. The scent was also vaguely lingering about the territory, but the majority of it had been swept away by the blizzard like dirt being swept by a broom. This wolf didn't seem to reveal herself, although she was indeed near.

The winter season had begun to lighten up. The rustic fae could feel it from the inside, out. The chilling breezes were slowly lifting away from the lands and spring was slowly but surely making the many different life forms that rested within the forest aware of its arriving prescence. Life was hard to sustain whilst living alone, but Eve managed it quite well, although she had the social skill of a blank. Having been lone for a few months the female continued to venture back and forth to certain spots that sat within the forest. Extending her sleek frame Eve began a steady pace forward's her nostrils catching the different scents of wolves, Something she was familiar with but refused to announce her prescene too. It was on this very day she decided to venture a little closer towards the voices of strangers. Instead of waiting for a future to come to her, Eve decided it was now time to journey as far as she could to fine hers' Be it friends, a family or a foe.

A soft sigh escaped her lips she made her way through the tree's, her head remained low to avoid making any sudden sound or movement. Once she grew closer the fae came to a halt. Lifting her fluffy snout to the sky she inhaled deeply to see if anyone else was around, and to her suprise there stood three wolves, two Ivory beauties and one Ashen brute . Hazel orbs peered out from her small skull. Her tail batting back and forth softly, Eve had no problems and no worries about the three wolves that stood within her view, She simply showed interest and watched carefully as they converesed before making a further approach.

The ebon vixen trudged onward toward the small grouping of wolves. Blue was the only wolf there who soothed her suspicions, although her muscles still tensed at the sight of them. The delta female stopped in the snow when she came close enough, still somewhat away from the group. Two she-wolves and one male. Her fleece pricked with uncertainty, as she cleared her throat to speak. "Blue," murmured Katria, "who... are they?"

The mother began to wonder. Blue seemed so calm, so lax around these loners. Maybe Blue had accepted them; Katria wasn't against the idea, as she usually was when it came to new members. They needed them; who knows? Maybe half the pack got wiped out in the blizzard. Besides, they didn't seem useless; while they looked as tired and underfed as she was, they seemed friendly and willing to work.

Suddenly, a new scent wafted its way through the now-still air and into her nostrils. Upon instinct, the fur along her spine began to lift, while her golden optics narrowed in suspicion. She fought down a growl, as the tall female turned toward the direction of the scent.

The sudden feel of another wolf was the first thing to awaken Eve reverting her back to reality, Though this scent was different from the others, more dominant and radiating. The rustic fae had been venturing in and out of Pack territory for no reason other than the fact she didnt feel like being alone. The sky's rays parted, weaving their way through the clouds causing the forests partly frozen floors to glisten, And to Eve's suprise there was another female standing a fair distance away from her, Coated in Ebony the wolf seemed a little agitated. Was it perhaps the other wolves? Or the pure fact that Eve was tresspassing, Yet showing no threat? In any case the rustic femme was curious to find out, though she stood frozen with watchful eyes upon the stranger.

The female had hunted recently and her stomach was still comfortably full, but her energetic self made it hard for her to want to just sit and relax and not do anything, If anything Eve wanted to know who the band of wolves were, and finding out who this Ebony female was. She was going to do just that, Eve had pleanty of time to do other things throughout the day and surely an introduction would not take that long. Before she knew it Eve began to softly trott towards the Blackened figure and before long she was facing the she wolf. The first thing Eve noticed about the female was her gleaming saphire eyes, They were many different hues of blue, A smile slipped its way across her maw before Eve spoke out towards her hoping not to frighten her, She wouldnt want any negativity to come from a first introduction. "Hello, My name's Eve".

"Oh! Thank you, Blue," she dipped her head in respect to the beta, barely repressing her excitement.

With a subtle smile, Blue raised a brow at the most enthusiastic of wolves who had approached her. She was certainly a lively thing, wasn't she? Towards the back of her mind, Blue wondered if such an attitude was contagious. "Mm-hmm," Blue answered, before adding, "I don't think I caught your name..."

"My name's Náhani and I do wish to stray along with your pack" she finished leaving her purpose of joining along with her soft vocals.

So there was two candidates whom had answered with a definite "yes" to her offer of pack acceptance. However, Nocturne, or Death, as Blue preferred to call him, had fallen quiet after the arrival of the second newcomer. Maybe he wasn't looking to tie himself down to a pack? With a smirk, Blue thought jokingly about different reasons he would have approached her. It was perfectly possible that he was a loner, looking to start his own pack, and had only waltzed up to her in his gentlemanly routine out of needs to find his alpha female. Blue stopped herself short there. If she were to continue, she'd just be full of herself. Besides, she wasn't going to allow herself to be whisked away anytime soon.

Snapping her away from her ridiculousness, Blue caught wind of yet another stranger. Lord, she was honey to flies, wasn't she? She was beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed. It would be four to one in a little bit. If they felt like teaming up to take her down... well, it'd be awful easy. Actually, she had a bad feeling Death could've finished the job by himself. Maybe it wasn't so much a feeling as common sense. She wouldn't mind a familiar face right about now...

Well, speak of the devil.

"Blue," murmured Katria, "who... are they?"

With a crooked grin, Blue whispered to her golden-eyed friend, "Mother Nature sent reinforcements."

"Hello, My name's Eve."

"Hello Eve," Blue returned her greeting with an easy air of practice, "They call me Blue," and, with a playful nudge to a predictably bristling Katria, she announced more or less to everyone else, "And this is Katria, our female delta." With a welcoming smile, Blue's eyes swept over her new "crop" of newbies. It was probably best to get formalities out of the way all at once, so she could begin sorting them into their ranks. Well, sorting those who wanted to be sorted, Blue reminded herself, eyeing the largest, and only male, member among them.

"If those whom wish to join our pack could name their skills and/or experience so I may evaluate them," she sighed in an exhausted, but cheerful manner, "That'd be wonderful."

    "You're hurt."

"Hello, I do apologize for trespassing, but know I do not harbor any negative intentions. I would like to look around your pack, as I do not have one of my own. What's wrong? And how did you receive that injury?"

"My name is Blue, I'm the beta of this pack, We'll happily accept either of you as members, If you're of use to us."

    "Hello..?"

"Another one, huh? Where do you all keep coming from? As I just finished telling these two, my name is Blue, and I am the beta of this pack. Looking to join, are you?"

"In hopes. My name's Náhani and I do wish to stray along with your pack"

"Hello Eve, They call me Blue, And this is Katria, our female delta. If those whom wish to join our pack could name their skills and/or experience so I may evaluate them, That'd be wonderful."

The passage of conversation and the sudden appearances of other she-wolves was almost too quick for Nocturne to keep up. A small, yet warm smile grew on his dark face. Females. They always knew how to squeeze every piece of information in at one sitting. He could not suppress the chuckle that grew in his chest. The sound forced it's way from his voice box so it could echo in the chilly air. It didn't last too long, thankfully and was swallowed away within a few moments. It felt good to laugh. Even though that he did not know these females besides their names, he felt like he would end up liking them. They differed in personality but the differences would make them all special to him in their own way.

A sudden and searing pain nearly caused the jet black male to double over. The laceration on his leg had started to throb and more blood gushed out of it. Nocturne felt his lips move up and the bridge of his nose become home to hills of flesh. He was snarling silently as his golden eyes suddenly turned icy and cast themselves upon his wound. Blasted Crescendo. Nocturne never should have allowed his brother such a close proximity. A foolish mistake on his part, one that could very much cost him his life. If infection were to set in, there would be no stopping the poisons from entering his blood stream and closing off his heart. It was almost as if by picturing what could happen was making it happen. Therefore, Nocturne could feel his heartbeat become more painful with every thud.

The jet coloured male squeezed his golden eyes shut at he willed the pain away. He had to bit his tongue and swallow away a whine before it could pass his lips. After what seemed like several decades, the pain faded and the blood flow from the wound slowed. Nocturne's breathing was a bit heavier than usual when he finally opened his eyes. This injury needed to be looked at, as soon as possible. There was no denying that if left unchecked, something would fester and cause him great harm. Also, he needed to ensure that it would heal properly. If it didn't, that could cost Nocturne everything.

"I apologize for that brief episode." He murmured quietly. The dark male was polite, even when he was in agony. "It seems that this is far more grievous than I initially thought. I do not mean to trouble you, Blue, but do you think you could assist me with this injury? I know nothing of herbs or healing; I am afraid that I am utterly useless in this area."

The female positioned herself within the congregating wolves by laying down slowly in the snow, her breathing has shallowed, taking calm breaths inhaling and exhaling, though with her maw ajar she tested the air and the surrounding wolves for a brief moment. They all seemed to display themselves with kindness, no anger was yet pursued in the presence of our intrusion. She was thankful enough to come across a bunch that were on the search for a newly pack, like herself. Shivering slightly, from the lack of energy that drained from her body, food was on the menu for her and she thought about the others as well, the blizzard nearly taken her away, but reluctantly finding a small log to creep under and attempt to keep self warm was an urgent message to her.

A harsh breath escaped her quickly, arising in her chest and out between her parted chaps, she blinked slowly, awaiting for something to occur. Without a doubt something was catching her attention, the darkened pigment wolf near her jolted a bit with frustration. 'Was he alright?' she questioned herself thoughtfully, her head cocked a little sideways while she evaluated his gestures. A lash of pain was flowing through his body, her auds overlooked the male, her lobes perked slightly forward as she arose in her position, rolling her haunches with a stretch and sitting down with her banner curled around her lower physique to the front of her left fore paw.

Nocturne's actions startled Blue something fierce. Here was the biggest wolf she'd ever seen in her life, most likely in his prime too, and he just up and collapses right in front of her. In her clueless-ness, she could do nothing but stare at him with wide sparkling eyes as he seemed to suffer.

"Ah," Blue stalled for a bit, unsure of herself. She was no healer, by any means. In fact, her birth-pack hadn't even had a position similar to a medicinal wolf's here... Yet... her birth-pack hadn't been a sickly group at all. How had they dealt with problems like these?

Blue sighed. She knew how. They were always traditional in their actions. And there was truly only one way for a strictly traditional wolf to clean his wounds. She ceased her stalling, "Yeah, just stay there, let me see..." She began padding closer to the brute, before stopping to glance over her shoulder at the ebony-furred delta behind her, "Katria, please try to find Drake, will you?" The last time the blue-eyed beta had seen Kanae's recent lover was back at the cave she'd hid in during the blizzard. But, even if he'd been breathing, he hadn't seemed very lively. Blue feared for the worst.

Closing in on the space between them, Blue inspected Death's wound a bit closer. She smiled meekly to herself. Come on Death, you're suppose to be immortal. Blue slunk to her stomach and prepared herself for what she was about to do. Unfortunately, poor Nocturne would be a bit less informed... until it started stinging. And she knew it would, at first. "Hey, who'd you get in a fight with to get this anyway? A polar bear?" She asked jokingly, as if to have something to distract him before even more pain came his way. Though, knowing what got him would be helpful as well. If Blue could remember what Drake had given her all those ages ago, when she'd been slashed open by that mountain lion...

Slowly, though without warning, Blue laved her tongue across the mess of blood. She'd never really tasted another wolf's blood before. It was utterly awful. But she was a tough one, and this was nothing compared to her previous hardships.
